Ruth Jacoby has been named executive director of education by the Somerset Academy Charter School governing board. Previously, she was director of professional development for the Florida Consortium of Public Schools, leading the charter school association's professional development outreach program and providing assistance to members throughout the state. As executive director of education, she will provide essential guidance to administrators and teachers at the Somerset Academies campuses throughout Dade and Broward County. She will visit all the campuses periodically to observe and gather information on best practices being used at each Somerset Academy school site, and will organize opportunities for this information to be shared between the schools. She will also work with principals to implement ongoing professional development activities and assist with continuing education."
